Bio

    AJ Clayton is from Johnstown, Colo., and is in his fifth year with the University of Rio Grande. Clayton attended Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas 2013-2017. While at Ottawa, Clayton earned his bachelor's in Secondary Education Mathematics. In 2017-2019, Clayton taught Algebra II and Geometry, while coaching baseball and boys swimming at Osawatomie High School in Kansas. Since Clayton has played Independent Professional Baseball in the PECOS league and the Battle of the Bourbon Trail with the Florence Freedom. In May of 2022, Clayton graduated from the University of Rio Grande with his Masters Degree in Education Athletic Coaching Leadership. Currently, Clayton is pursuing his Ed. D. in Sports Leadership through Concordia University Chicago.

    Since being at Rio, Clayton has been working with the RedStorm pitching staff, along with being the first base coach. Clayton is also the university's assistant sports information director (SID). Clayton has aspirations of becoming a Head Coach at the collegiate level in the future. AJ and his wife, Tami, live in Gallipolis, Ohio.
