Trio represent Rio men on All-RSC teams

     OXFORD, Ohio- The University of Rio Grande was one of five schools to place three players on the 2026 River States Conference Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams.
     The teams were announced by league officials on Thursday.
     Two of Rio's three honorees - senior guards Delon McCloud (Grand Rapids, MI) and Trey Robertson (Waverly, OH) - earned First Team recognition, while fellow senior forward Jaylin Fox (South Haven, MI) was among those on the Third Team list.
     As spelled out in River States Conference by-laws, 10 players are voted to the first, second, and third teams. The teams are selected via a vote of conference head coaches.
     Individual awards will be announced by the conference office on Friday.
     Shawnee State University, fresh off a 15-1 mark in conference play, led all schools with six overall selections. The Bears had one first team selection in Jason Steele, while adding three second team selections and two third team picks.
     In addition to Rio Grande, both Indiana University Kokomo and Indiana University Southeast placed multiple players on the top team.
     Kentucky Christian University and St. Mary-of-the-Woods College also joined the RedStorm, Cougars and Grenadiers with three selections overall.
     Eleven of the 12 River States Conference schools placed at least one player on the three All-Conference teams, with 10 schools earning multiple selections.
     McCloud leads the league in both scoring (21.3 ppg) and in free throw percentage (88.9%), while ranking second in three-point goals made (83).
     Robertson, who is scoring at a 12.6 ppg clip, leads the league it total assists (173) and is tied for the top spot in assists per game (6.0).
     Fox, who is averaging 10.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest, ranks second in the RSC with 58 steals.
     Joining McCloud, Robertson and Steele on the All-RSC First Team were IU Kokomo's Joseph Annan, Jr. and Alonzo Clawson-Smith; IU Southeast's Trent Hinkle and Nathaniel Hoffman; Chris Grubbs from Oakland City; Kentucky Christian's Markell Hood; and Midway's Amari Wales.
     Second Team honorees included Mike Ajukwa, Taray Howell and Ellis Todd from St. Mary-of-the-Woods; Midway's Dontavius King; Shawnee State's Tyreon Payne, El Sieger and Kiante Williams; Brandon Moore of WVU-Tech; Linkin Lockhart from Brescia; and IU Columbus' Trevin Lieck.
     Joining Fox on the Third Team was Ahmadou Aw and Jareon Mayo from Shawnee State; Ian Goings of WVU Tech; IU Southeast's Jaden Johnson; Jayden Loydd and D'Angelo Stoxstill of Kentucky Christian; Oakland City's Kalik Sharpe; Damontae Thompson from IU Columbus; and IU Kokomo's Ty Wills.
     Additionally, the RSC also announced the athletes recognized as their program's Champion of Character. Each team in each RSC-sponsored sport is asked to nominate one athlete as their Champion of Character. The student-athletes best represent the NAIA's Champions of Character program and its five core values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership and Sportsmanship.
     Rio Grande's representative was sophomore Bransyn Copas (Seaman, Ohio).
     The 2026 River States Conference Championship continues on Saturday with two semifinal games. Shawnee State will host IU Southeast at 2 p.m., while IU Kokomo will welcome Rio Grande at 3 p.m.
     The tourney's title game will be played Tuesday night at the home gym of the highest remaining divisional seed.
