RedStorm slips into tie for 2nd at RSC Tournament

DANIELS, W.Va. - The University of Rio Grande slipped into a tie for second place with Midway University following the second round of the River States Conference Men's Golf Championship, Monday afternoon, at The Resort at Glade Springs Resort.
The RedStorm and the Eagles both finished the day at 45-over par 621 and trail new tourney leader Indiana University East by three shots in the 11-team field.
Individually, Midway's Gage Gregory and Oakland City's Jose Vidal are tied for the top spot at 2-under par 142.
Rio Grande senior Rodrigo Portilla (Sevilla, Spain) has the RedStorm's top 36-hole total, carding a two-over 74 for the day and jumping into third place at 6-over 150.
Also representing Rio is junior Juan Carlo Gil Perez (Malaga, Spain), who sits in seventh place at 11-over 155; freshman Pablo Gutierrez (Puebla, Mexico), who is 15th at 14-over par 158; freshman Rafael Martinez (Bahia Blanca, Argentina), who is part of a three-way tie for 16th at 15-over 159; and freshman Pedro Torrens (Neuquen, Argentina), who is 22nd at 17-over par 161.
Final round action gets underway Tuesday at 9 a.m.
