Nine represent RedStorm on All-RSC teams

OXFORD, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande and West Virginia University-Tech placed nine players each on the 2025 River States Conference Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams recently announced by league officials.
The RedStorm, who finished as the league's runner-up - both during regular season and post-season play - had four first teamers, four second teamers and one third team selection.
The regular season and tournament champion Golden Bears claimed eight of the 14 spots on the First Team and one Second Team pick.
Oakland City claimed the final two First Team selections, part of their seven overall picks.
Four other schools - Shawnee State, IU Columbus, Midway and St. Mary-of-the-Woods - all had four or more selections, with two from IU East and one from Brescia rounding out the 45 total selections.
Each all-conference team consisted of two goalkeepers, four defenders, four midfielders, and four forwards. Ties were all placed on the same team and a spot from the following team was removed.
The teams were selected via a vote of conference head coaches.
Rio's honorees on the First Team included freshman goalkeeper Samy Hamou (Paris, France), senior defender Harry Walsh (Letchworth Garden City, England), freshman midfielder Nahuel Coppiz (Cordoba, Argentina) and freshman forward Facundo Rossich (Buenos Aires, Argentina).
Rossich enters national tournament play as the team leader with 15 goals and 30 points, while Coppiz has two goals and three assists and Walsh has a pair of goals and one assist.
Hamou has 49 saves and a .636 save percentage, in addition to posting four clean sheets.
The RedStorm's Second Team selections included senior defender Justin Jimenez (Alajuela, Costa Rica), junior midfielder Tommy Munoz Salazar (San Jose, Costa Rica), junior midfielder Taichi Nogami (Hyogo, Japan) and sophomore forward Estevao Goncalves (Sao Paulo, Brazil).
Freshman forward Will Perry (Crewe, England) represented Rio Grande on the Third Team.
Goncalves has 10 goals and five assists for 25 points, Munoz Salazar has eight goals and four assists for 20 points, Jimenez has one goal and Perry has two goal and six assists.
Joining Rio's quartet of standouts on the First Team was WVU-Tech goalkeeper Luka Felix; defenders Julian Diaz, Marcos Garcia Aldama and Nicholas Ihnat, all of WVU-Tech; midfielders Keishon Clarke and Gonzalo Sabeh from WVU-Tech and Ross O'Brien of Oakland City; forwards Leny Duperray and Julen Recalde of WVU Tech and Oakland City's Yaw Frimpong.
The remainder of the Second Team was comprised of goalkeepers Toby Forsythe of Shawnee State and Jacob Robinson from Oakland City; defenders Guilherme Bitencourt of Shawnee State, Bobby Davis from Oakland City and Midway's Blake Warner; midfielders Rhys Dickson of Midway, Oakland City's Samuel Pilgrim and Hugo Roman from WVU Tech; and forwards Adam Dimba of Oakland City, St. Mary-of-the-Woods' Ivan Gelado Chavala and Alfie Maynard from Shawnee State.
Along with Perry, Third Team recognition went to goalkeepers Jacob Kasarda of IU Columbus, Landon Sorrell from Midway and IU East's Elijah Williamson; defenders Sei Aitoku of Shawnee State, Eduardo Cordova from IU Columbus, Brescia's Lance Dickens and SMWC's Franco Mauri; midfielders Noah Backhaus from IU East, Kevin Cruz of IU Columbus, SMWC's Jaime Gayol Pertierra and Shawnee State's Marco Riva; and forwards Christian Cardoso from IU Columbus, Willem Hulsebosch of Oakland City, Midway's George Spencer and SMWC's Andoni Ybanez.
Recalde was the big winner in terms of individual awards, claiming the Newcomer, Offensive Player, and Player of the Year awards.
Ihnat won the Defensive Player of the Year award, and Tech's Nick Semnani was honored by his peers as RSC Coach of the Year.
Additionally, the RSC also announced the athletes recognized as their program's Champion of Character.
Each team in each River States Conference-sponsored sport is asked to nominate one athlete as their Champion of Character. These student-athletes best represent the NAIA's Champions of Character program and its five core values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership and Sportsmanship.
Rio's representative on the list was senior Marti Puigsegur Calvo (Barcelona, Spain).
