Rio's Skeens claims fourth Player of the Week honor

     MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - University of Rio Grande senior Ella Skeens averaged an amazing 46.0 points per game to claim River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week presented by Brown & Brown Insurance.
     It is her fourth conference weekly honor of the year and is for games Jan. 23-29.
     Skeens' hot week included a school-record 50 points against Asbury (Ky.) University and a follow-up performance of 42 points against Indiana University East.
     Skeens also averaged 9.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 82 percent from the field and 88 percent from the foul line (14-for-16).
     A guard/forward from Chillicothe, Ohio, Skeens got half a hundred by making 19 of 21 field goals versus Asbury. All but one of the makes was from inside the three-point arc. She was also 11-for-13 at the foul line and made it a double-double with 12 rebounds.
     Skeens then scored 42 points in 27 minutes versus IU East, a 105-66 win. She made another 17 of 23 shots, which included 5-for-7 from distance, while also tallying six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
