Rio women finish 4th at Bulldog Bash

     RICHMOND, Ky. - The University of Rio Grande women's bowling team posted a fourth place finish in the Bulldog Bash hosted by Union Commonwealth University.
     The two-day, six-team event, which consisted of four rounds of team play and 12 rounds of baker action, wrapped up on Sunday at the Galaxy Bowling and Entertainment Center.
     The RedStorm finished with 4,858 pins as a team.
     The University of Pikeville won the team title with 5,765 pins, while Shawnee State University was the runner-up with 5,010 pins and host Union Commonwealth finished in front of Rio Grande by eight pins for third place.
     Individually, Pikeville's Brianna Rogers took medalist honors with 819 pins over four rounds.
     Rio Grande's top showing came from sophomore Lina Fernandez (Mechanicsburg, PA), who finished eighth with 631 pins over four rounds for a 157.8 average.
     Also representing Rio Grande at the event was junior Jaelyn Hughes (Indian Lake, OH), who finished 16th in the field of 45 competitors with 579 pins over four rounds; senior Hannah Halstead (Delaware, OH), who was 18th with 548 pins in four games; junior Payton Goodman (Cardington, OH), who placed 26th with 446 pins in three rounds; junior Julie LeMaster (Chillicothe, OH), who finished 30th with 384 pins in three games; and senior Megan Foltz (South Point, OH), who was 33rd with 346 pins in two games.
     Foltz also had Rio's top single-game performance with a 180 in her opening game.
     Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action Dec. 18-21 at a pair of tournaments in Las Vegas, Nev.
