Rio women finish 9th at Golden Eagle Invite

     CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Rio Grande women's track & field team posted six individual Top 10 outings and placed ninth as a team in Friday's Golden Eagle Invitational, hosted by the University of Charleston at UC Stadium/Laidley Field.
     The RedStorm's top performance belonged to sophomore Kylie Montgomery (Coal Grove, OH), who finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.30.
     Rio also got fourth-place finishes, with freshman Joleigh Nott (Gallipolis Ferry, WV) accomplishing the feat in the 800-meter run and sophomore Stella Gilcher (Amesville, OH) doing the same in the pole vault. Nott posted a time of 2:24.42, while Gilcher cleared a height of 3.05m.
     The RedStorm's remaining finishes of note belonged to freshman Hannah Henderson (New Paris, OH), who was fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 9.88m; freshman Marley Kreischer (Oak Hill, OH), who was eighth in the 800 after crossing in 2:27.51; and freshman Alexandria Lefevre (Canal Winchester, OH), who was eighth in the triple jump with an effort of 9.46m.
     As a team, Rio Grande totaled 65 points as a team to finish ninth in the 11-team field.
     Host Charleston won the team title with 178 points, while Central State (OH) was second with 103 points and Frostburg State (MD) was third with 101 points.
     Rio Grande will return to action on April 17 at the Otterbein Twilight.
